South Pacific Travel Tips

HOW TO GET THERE:
You may wish to brave the lengthy roads by taking the Pan American Highway south from San Jose (6-8 hours driving time), but if you wish to arrive fresh and energized for your travels, better take one of the many daily flights that service the area (Palmar, Golfito, Puerto Jimenez).

CLIMATE:
A truly tropical climate awaits visitors to the South Pacific region with high humidity and dense vegetation but rewards with spectacular landscapes and excellent tropical weather. Rains are frequent but brief.

WHAT TO BRING:
Insect repellant and rain gear although the drenching could prove refreshing! Light and airy clothing and don't forget the snorkeling gear.

WHAT TO SEE:
Chirripó, Costa Rica's highest peak, is a treat to visit boasting an incredible bounty of flora and fauna for the eager eye. The town of Buenos Aires offers a peek into the lives of the indigenous Guaymi and Boruca who live in the immediate area.
