Bosque de Paz Rain / Cloud Forest is a 1000 hectares (3000-acres) privately-owned Biological Reserve that, as a natural biological corridor, connects the Poás Volcano National Park with the Juan Castro Blanco National Park. It is a spectacular rich ecosystem because of its privileged location. It is located on the Continental Divide with altitudes ranging from 1450 to 2450 meters above sea level.

The lodge offres 12 rooms surrounded by forest and a hummingbird, and butterfly garden. The rooms are fully furnished with exclusive ironworks and Costa Rican pottery. Each one has two double beds, private bathroom, and hot water. Wide balconies offer beautiful views to the forest.

At the dining room the guests will enjoy delicious homemade meals of gourmet Costa Rican typical dishes, natural drinks, and premium coffee, with a 180-degree angle view to the butterfly garden and the forest. They offer you vegetarian, vegan and other special dietary dishes on previous request.

The tropical forests are the richest and most diverse ecosystems of the world. It is estimated that there are at least 1000 different species of living organisms in every single tree. It is our duty as responsible human beings to save and protect this treasure, where there are hundreds of potential compounds that could have lifesaving pharmaceutical uses, to cure diseases such as AIDS and cancer

At the Lodge, they have recorded more than 331 species of birds at the preserve since July, 1997, including Resplendent Quetzal, Scaled Antpitta, Black Guan, Emerald Toucanet, Three Wattled Bellbird, Ornate Hawk-Eagle, Zeledonia, and Silvery-fronted, Tapaculo, Black--faced Solitaire, American Dipper, Golden-browed Chlorophonia, among many others, and abundant hummingbirds.

You'll always with friends at Bosque de Paz Private Nature Reserve, whether it be visiting with the owners, Federico Gonzalez-Pinto and his wife, Vanessa, or going on guided nature and orchid garden hikes with the knowledgable staff. For the adventureous, a longer guided hike to their own waterfall is an amazing wonder you'll always remember. View some of their orchid specimens at the research center with the resident naturalists, or wander by yourself through the signed, cloud forest trails close to the lodge
