We will pick you up at your hotel and drive you in a microbus to Bambú where you will meet your local guides. From here we will take an indigenous canoe ride along the Yorkin River. We will approach to the little village, Yorkin, in the Bri Bri territory of Talamanca. This village can only be reached by boat along this river.

On the way we will stop at "Shot" in Panama (no border crossing check point required). There you will swim in Suribre natural pools and enjoy a healthy snack of tropical fruit and homemade cakes.

 

As soon as we get to Yorkin we will go for a short walk in the village. In the village we will visit a school and a clinic, furthermore
we will see organic cacao and banana plantations on the way to hostel "La Casa de las Mujeres." This hostel is constructed in a very simple and charming style including palm thatch roofs.

During a refreshing snack they will give you a short explanation about their "Stibrawpa" Project. Afterwards you will go on a walk to learn about medicinal plants and other products which are very important for their way of life. You will also learn how to make an indigenous style roof. When you return to the house you will be served with a wholesome typical lunch and afterward shown will be how they produce chocolate by traditional methods. Finally a dessert will be served which is made with organic banana and chocolate cream on.

 

This is one of the best opportunities to experience the authentic indigenous way of life in Costa Rica. You will learn about their culture while enjoying this natural paradise. Talking with members of this tribe will be a gratifying experience that will surely enrich and inspire your life.

At the end of this interesting experience you will take the boat back to Bambú where the microbus will be waiting to take you back to Puerto Viejo.

What to bring:
Comfortable shoes, sandals, hat, sunglasses, camera, binoculars (in a plastic bag hermetically closed), swim suit, towel and insect repellant, additional socks and additional clothes.
