You will be picked up by our tour guide at your hotel at a previously arranged time.
As you hike the trails to the deep caves in the Barra Honda National Park, you might see birds, monkeys, anteaters, coatis, etc. (Depending on road conditions due to rain, visitors on rare occasions will need to take up to an hour and a half hike to reach the entrance of the cave.) Your guide equips you with a harness and rope, helmet and headlamp for your climb down a 90' ladder into the Caverna Terciopelo. Once in the cave you will see a profusion of stalactites, stalagmites and many beautiful formations such as soda straws, pearls, roses, needles, cave grapes, curtains and terraces.
Upon completion of the tour in the caves, we will go back to the reception area using the paths and enjoy a typical home cooked lunch at Doña Estela's house, that has been turned into a quaint restaurant.
After lunch we will travel to the Tempisque river for a boat tour, and the chance to see some crocodiles, sea birds, and other animals of the area. You tour finishes with return transportation to your starting point.
