Getting
There
We wouldnt say "getting there is half the fun",
but we would say that the driving is easy and the views are spectacular!
Youll pass through several scenic ecosystems on your way to
the Lodge.
From San José: Take the Pan-American Highway west towards
the airport and take the exit to Alajuela. From there follow
the signs to the Poas Volcano and turn right towards the town
of Varablanca where you will pass numerous coffee, ornamental
plant, and strawberry plantations. As you descend, you will enter
the famous warm lowlands of San Carlos producing most of the
sugar cane, yucca, pineapple and citrus fruits grown in Costa Rica.
The road is paved all the way to Pital, after
which access is via a well maintained gravel surfaced road for another
18 miles to Boca Tapada, and from there the final 4 miles to
another 4 miles to Laguna del Lagarto Lodge.
