La Joya de la Jungla "the Jewel of the Jungle", is a rustic Treetop Retreat. Set high on a hill, wafted by gentle sea breezes, and overlooking the Caribbean amid lush green forests, and elegant palms, La Joya is truly a getaway from the frenetic pace of life today. It is also a welcome change from the increasingly commercialized atmosphere of many other vacation destinations.

Greeting you at the entrance, you will follow the walkway to the three story house. It is surrounded by 10 acres of lush and wild forest, beautifully maintained tropical gardens and plenty of open sky to marvel at.

On the first floor is La Joya's fully equipped kitchen. La Joya provides all its guests a daily breakfast upon request. What a healthy start to your day exploring a little bit of paradise. Tropical fruits, fresh yogurt, and multigrain cereals are just some of the items offered each morning. All can be topped off with world famous Costa Rican coffee or, if one prefers, their own herbal teas cut fresh each morning

In the gardens guests will wander amid fruit trees, brilliant flowers and an herb garden. All of La Joya's home cooked meals are seasoned with herbs picked fresh daily from the garden. In addition, many guests have availed themselves of the garden to use herbs for medicinal and healing purposes. La Joya's gardener is always eager to guide guests through this tropical treasure. It is not only an aesthetically pleasing tour, it is very educational as well.

Though private and secluded, La Joya is in close proximity to a number of the area's most interesting places and activities. A fifteen minute walk along the Caño Negro River brings the visitors out on to the world famous beaches of Costa Rica.

South of La Joya, lies the fishing village of Manzanillo. A walking opportunity to view and savor some of the most beautiful and interesting scenery in all of Central America.

To the north of the hilltop hideaway lies the laid back town of Puerto Viejo. Walking along the jungle path will provide guests an opportunity to watch the finest surfers in the world perform their magical water ballets on some of the tallest waves in the country.
