Educated in Belgium (PhD) and a Professor at the University of Costa Rica, Dr. Oscar Arias is a leading figure in the field of Agribiotechnology, with over 30 years experience in developing and ecologically managing lands throughout Costa Rica.
Recognized for his vast scientific and technological contributions in the field of agriculture, Dr. Arias is responsible for developing new strains of plants now used by most every major grower of banana and pineapple around the world. Dr. Arias has received the Meritorious Agriculture Award in 2005, and has been an international lecturer for decades, promoting the preservation of Costa Rica’s natural heritage. Additionally, Dr. Arias continues to work closely with the National Institute of Biodiversity in developing means to conserve and promote the indigenous growth and preservation of Costa Rica's vast natural resources.
As a principal developer for Madre Tierra, Dr. Arias brings a wealth of land development experience and an intrinsic relationship of agriculture, real estate and the preservation of Costa Rica’s most valued treasure. In developing Madre Tierra, Dr. Arias’s mission is to blend the indigenous ecology of Costa Rica and the relax living conditions that natures allows to those that wish to live or retire in such ecologically friendly atmosphere as Madre Tierra.
Diego J. Veitia
A true international financial entrepreneur, with almost 40 years experience in the global market place, Mr. Diego Veitia has worked, managed and founded numerous successful companies all over the world.
A 10 year residents of Costa Rica, Mr. Veitia’s resume reflects an impressive array of highly successful ventures. To name just a few, Mr. Veitia was the founder of Plantas Tropicales (a joint venture with the Ralston Purina Company), and listed in the New York Stock Exchange. He continues to have and has had successfull joint ventures with companies like Bache & Company, Prudential Insurance and International Assets Holding Corporation. Additionally, Mr. Veitia is a founding member and Chairman of an International Merchant Banking Group, a USA Registered Investment Advisor. Founder and CIO of Americas All Season Fund, The First Global Closed End Flexible Fund.
Mr. Veitia is a graduate from Iowa State University (BS) and holds a BFT degree from the Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management, along with being Chairman Emeritus of Rollin`s College Hamilton Holt School.
