Xandari Resort & Spa

Hotel Xandari

Private villas on a coffee plantation overlooking the Central Valley.

Healthy gourmet cuisine with an emphasis on fresh produce and seafood from local farmers, fishermen and their own plantation.

Peaceful, colorful, intimate, elegant simplicity... are words that come to mind when describing the dining room and dining terrace with a panoramic view of coffee fincas and the Central Valley. The focus is on the uniqueness and variety of Costa Rican cuisine, as well as international specialties.

Breakfast is served on the dining room terrace, or on your own villa's terrace, featuring fresh orange juice (oranges harvested daily from their own orchard), a variety of fresh tropical fruit, freshly baked muffins, a choice of cereals, eggs Xandari, unique banana pancakes, and gallo pinto (traditional Costa Rican rice and beans), accompanied by a brew of the finest coffee from the plantation or a choice of teas.

Lunches are light and casual, featuring a selection of appetizing sandwiches, soups and salads... accompanied by a tropical fruit drink or other beverage of your choice. Desserts include a selection of unique flans.

Cocktail hour precedes dinner and is a perfect time for relaxation, conversation, browsing in the library, and viewing the sunset over the Central Valley and Talamanca Mountains. In addition to a wide variety of standard drinks, the hotel offers several interesting cocktail specialties of Costa Rica and Xandari Plantation.

Dinner is enjoyed by candlelight and soft music, with a background panorama of lights throughout the Central Valley. Guests are offered a choice each evening of three entrees, including one vegetarian.
(Special dishes can be requested in advance from a varied menu and will be accommodated by the chef whenever possible.)

"Xandari Plantation is simply a superb, died-and-gone-to-heaven hotel. The restaurant which overlooks the valley is epicurean. Go with someone you love."
Detroit Free Press

Xandari Plantation consists of 16 spacious villas on a 40 acre coffee and fruit plantation overlooking Costa Rica's Central Valley... the creation of architect Sherrill Broudy and artist Charlene Broudy, who envisioned a paradise reflecting the natural beauty of Costa Rica. The villas, private terraces, furniture and gardens are designed with great attention to detail, and each villa is adorned with original works of art. All villas have a private view terrace, a walled in sun area, a bar kitchen, and either a king bed or two full beds.

Over 3-kilometers of scenic trails through coffee and fruit orchards lead into a lush natural tropical setting with a year-round river and five beautiful waterfalls. Fruits, vegetables and herbs from the plantation's gardens complement Xandari's health-conscious specialty dishes. Add to this the warm personal attention of a dedicated staff... and it's simply paradise.

The following rates include impressive accommodations in a private villa with a large terrace on which to enjoy a panoramic view of the Central Valley, an additional private walled terrace for sunbathing, and choice of a king-size bed or two full-size beds. Breakfast in your villa or main dining room included. Transportation to and from San Jose International Airport complimentary.

Each villa is unique in design with a panoramic view
of coffee fields and the Central Valley.

Location

Turn right on leaving the airport. In 100 meters, take the right exit to Alajuela. Follow road signs to Alajuela. Continue straight through Alajuela. After the last Alajuela signal light, continue straight ahead up the hill approximately 3.0 km to an intersection on the left. Turn left. Look for the Xandari signs. (Signs are subtle -- just an X in a circle like on this map -- so watch carefully.) After 1.3 km, turn right 0.9 km to the entrance gate of Xandari Plantation. (Don't worry that you're not on the right road because it's rugged. That's just Costa Rica!)
