In 1992, an important irrigation project, part of the largest hydroelectric complex in Costa Rica (Arenal Lake and hydroelectric plants) developed by the government organization SENARA, became a reality. It provides fresh water irrigation to more than 50,000 hectares during the dry season. La Pacifica was one of the first important farms to be connected to the irrigation channel and to introduce modern irrigation techniques. |

| Today, La Pacifica focuses mainly on tilapia farming, cattle ranching, and growing conventional and certified organic rice. However, because of its strategic location and characteristics, its true potential is for real estate development (for second homes) and for large scale ecotourism projects such as lodging, hiking, climbing, horse-back riding, canopy tours, aerial tram, flora/fauna/bird watching, hanging bridges, bungee jumping, water rafting, fishing, etc. |  |

Also, because of its proximity to the Guanacaste, Nicoya and Central Pacific coasts, it can also cater to visitors interested in day-trips to the beach. Due to its location/climate/topography/water availability, the property is ideally suited for developing a golf course and country club, artificial lakes, a wild life zoo/safari and a hydroelectric project capable of providing power to the entire hacienda (the pre-feasibility study is available). | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Hacienda is divided into seven productive areas, six of which are primarily used for agricultural and forestry activities and one that is used as an ecotourism hotel and convention center. |

This lodging facility is close to some of the most famous and visited national parks, ecological reserves, volcanoes and other tourist sites such as Palo Verde, Rio Celeste, Rincon de la Vieja and Santa Rosa Nationals Parks. It is also a reasonable drive to the Arenal Volcano and Lake, Lake Coter, Lomas de Barbudal Reserve, the Port of Puntarenas Port and Caño Negro Reserve. |
