For the past 15 years, Shawandha Lodge has been offering peaceful and relaxing eco-friendly accommodations in the heart of the South Caribbean coast of Costa Rica.

With 14 tranquil rainforest bungalows nestled amongst the living tropical rainforest and beach environment, Hotel Shawandha Lodge has a "neo-primitive" concept. The design is an artistic combination of noble woods, bamboo and palm, reinforcing the impression of being "at one with nature".

Located just 4 hours from San Jose and 6 kilometers from Puerto Viejo, the hotel is the ideal tropical rainforest beach resort for honeymoons, relaxing getaways and wellness travel.

The hotel is characterized for its tranquillity and the hospitality of its people, not to mention the exquisite and unique biodiversity (about 100 species of birds, over 200 types of flora and a gigantic Ceiba or Kapok tree).

The lodge sits on a 5 acres tract of secondary forest - preserving it's own eco system of wildlife. It is located 200 meters away from the pristine beach of Playa Chiquita, a white sand and clear water beach that can only be accessed by trails. Playa Chiquita is an active member of the Blue Flag Program, which works towards sustainable development at beaches and grades their cleanliness.

A touch of French culture at Wandha, offering some of the most refined cuisine in the Puerto Viejo area - A healthy start in the morning - The restaurant serves breakfast from 7:30 am until 10:00 am. The tropical breakfast is prepared with fresh local fruits, eggs, home made bread and juice or cofee - A romantic evening perhaps? - Start with a cocktail under the huge palmed roof of the Rancho that shelters the restaurant and follow with a creative dinner with tropical flavors combined with french recipes. The dinner menu is offered from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.
